first post...

SO this is my first post, so it should be like, super deep and important right? right, ok.
I went camping this weekend. It was for Girl Scouts. I have been a Girl Scout since Kindergarten, so i stay in it for college and nostalgic reasons pretty much. Me and the other girls are not very conventional with our girl-scout-ness and we don't really do a lot of the things Girl Scouts are supposed to, like learning how to sew and earning merit badges. Basically, all we have been doing for the past few years is earning our gold award (...college) and raising money to go on a cruise to Alaska (this August finally!). So don't think of us as the super into-it girl scouters. We're not. Really.
So after trying to convince you that I am NOT a hard-core girl scout, yes, I went girl scout camping this weekend. The Girl Scout camp is on the North Shore, like where the Freshman and Academy camps are. Two other girls and myself were there helping my mom and her friend who were the ones running the camp. We were basically watching about 100 1-3 grade girls for 3 days...not my forte. Especially when we were on a mountaintop in the middle of nowhere.
Well, I was tired and irritated by Saturday night and I was loosing my voice as well. But after all the little kids had gone to sleep, we went to where we had set up our stuff, the camp site on the very top of the mountain, a 20 minute hike up from the main lodge. I was lying there under my mosquito net in my sleeping bag and I looked up at the sky. It had been raining earlier that day so it was kinda cloudy, but there were also stars. So many more stars than you could see in the city. I guess at about midnight I finally fell asleep, but I fell asleep looking at the sky. I fell asleep looking into the universe without it being hampered and disguised by the pollution of the modern world. I fell asleep seeing stars. You can't do that at home.
